My name is Pixiegod. I started playing the uke in the summer of 2018, with a simple but good Makala soprano. I have been playing the drums and the bodhrán and have been singing, but I always had a desire to learn a melody musical instrument. Ever since picking up the uke in that fateful year, my love for the uke has developped into a passion. I don't want to miss the uke again in my life. I play the uke every day, even if it is just a few simple chords for a few minutes. Because even playing simple chords is so gratifying and enriching.
I like to fingerpick old music (e.g. Renaissance, Baroque) and classical music, but I am also interested in playing the Blues and Jazz. Thus, I am constantly striving to expand my horizon, be it technique or music theory. As a singer (singing lessons, member of concert choirs for years), I also sing and strum occasionally, but that is not my main focus with the ukulele.
In terms of playing, I would still consider myself an advanced beginner, I don't think my playing is particularly good. That doesn't matter though. I only play for my own enjoyment. I have no plans to become a performing artist, but who knows, maybe one day I might walk on a stage and see what happens.
World peace through the uke! Well, let's not be naïve. But I sincerely agree with Jake Shimabukuro's statement below. I like the uke so much that I am trying to excite as many friends with my enthusiasm for the uke as possible. For their own benefit as well as indeed a little world peace. I am proud to say I have been responsible for quite a few converts already ...
